The rubber gasket is the key part in forming the tight seal when you lock your pressure cooker for steaming. Every now and then, your gasket needs replacing to keep your pressure cooker working at its highest capacity. With about a 9 inch diameter, this gasket fits all 6-quart and smaller Fagor pressure cookers.

A rubber gasket's primary purpose is to create a constant tight seal. Over time a gasket can dry out and lose its elasticity. If you notice this happening, replace the gasket immediately. A worn out gasket can lead to steam not building up, or worse, escaping from your cooker.
